Moving in a day early...

I received a voicemail from the previous home-owner advising that they have moved out!!!! We're going to move the ton of junk we have with us from the hotel to the house tomorrow, but stay in the hotel for one more night.

We have a home!!!

Now that we're owners again, we must perform major child-proofing. There are valves for gas lines at the fireplace and the pool heater. There is a sump pit under the house. There are a bunch of switches and water valves around the pool pump and equipment. There are two staircases. We have a bunch to do, but it will be fun!

I lost my hotel room!!!

I woke up this morning to an odd sound... Every little bit, a wierd whistling. It sounded like the ceiling was passing gas. There was water coming through my ceiling, pooling in the 49 layers of industrial latex paint, and then "passing" in short bursts as the pressure grew high enough to squirt some water.

So, I moved 2 doors down into an identical room.

I know this isn't a very exciting story, but life isn't exactly thrilling. I am bored silly living in a hotel in a small town.

I'm going to the mall and look at all the stores I found using google local.

There's snow in the forecast!

I don't much like Southern Indiana weather.

The homeless issues a challenge!

Admittedly, I have quite a bit of time on my hands right now. My family is two states away, and my job is still coming into focus. As a project manager, this means that I have free time. During this free time, I have surfed the web and observed the general posting behavior of numerous chat rooms and their regulars. There are some striking similarities between such diverse forums such as Yahoo!’s Caterpillar board, Fazed.net’s forums and the FIRECOACHFULMER.com board.

It seems true that everybody has their own opinions. It also seems true that there are contrarians who will find or invent flaws in any statement (be it opinion or purported fact). There have been several pieces written on the types of internet posters who incite problems wherever they go (trolls, flamers, etc…), so I don’t feel it would serve anyone to rehash that here. Instead, I’d like to issue a challenge: Tell me what opinion or fact you believe could be posted on any message board without someone objecting.

It would be easy to post some innocuous statements that would fly on most message boards… but all? I don’t believe it can be done. The anonymity provided by the internet has allowed the lunatic fringe a voice for almost every insane opinion. I believe that no matter what you say, I can find someone who will refute it.

less than 2 weeks until move in!!! I can't wait!

Home, Home at Sleep Innn.....

Hotel living is kinda weak. Sure there's no chores, but dang it's boring! I miss my family, and I've only been here for 3 days.

Good news! I'll be working from K-town next week, and then I will make my final trip North. 12 days in a hotel later, and I move in to my new home!!!!! NEW HOME!!!! YESYESYESYES!!!

Come visit this summer, and we can swim!
